How do we know it wasn’t faked?

  1. We don’t - but that goes for most things on the news.

    Does something seem incongruous?

  2. Interesting… Filmed in a TV studio. Let’s study the videos.

I always thought they should have made it into a reality TV show. “To evict Jose, dial...”

Not particularly, although the Chilean flags seemed a bit overdone.  It was more that I had a frightening thought and wanted to share it.

I suppose if it were faked you’d have to explain who those people were appearing to come out of the ground.  If they were actors surely someone would know who they were.  Actually, that’s true of just about anyone else.

Great movie. Way ahead if its time, why it was a critical and commercial failure.

On the other hand, in the movie the rescue is deliberately slowed down in order to prolongue the media circus, whereas in Chile it is clear that every possible effort took place to speed it up.

So Billy Wilder was actually too cynical.
